Dirk Schulz is a Senior Principal Scientist for the area “Communication Architecture” at ABB Research.

In this position, Dirk is heading international research projects within ABB and collaborates with partners in IT and telecoms industry. He is pushing beyond the boundaries of established industry solutions, turning customer problem statements into research questions, and developing technical innovations at the edge of IT/OT industries.

Dirk has over a decade of experience with Industrial Communication technology; specific background is in Industrial Ethernet, Wireless Sensors Networks, network management, SDN, and information modelling concepts with technologies like PROFINET IO, WirelessHART, IEEE TSN, and OPC UA / Digital Twins / Industry 4.0 Administration Shell.
