Yong is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in developing tech-enabled transformation and digital strategies across various industries. Recently, as the Chief Digital Officer of UEM Edgenta, he has been responsible for driving digital transformation, attracting top tech talent, modernising tech stacks, and fostering a tech-first culture. Additionally, he oversees the tech commercialisation strategy, shifting towards a tech-enabled business model.

Before joining UEM Edgenta, Yong was the country managing director of Eureka AI, a Softbank and Gobi funded start-up that uses AI to unlock insights from mobile telco data. He has also held analytics and management consulting roles at DXC, Accenture, China Telecom Europe, Centrica - British Gas, and Hewlett Packard.
Yong holds an MBA from Strathclyde Business School UK, a Bachelor's degree in Business Information System from Charles Sturt University Australia, and has completed executive education at Harvard, IMD Business School, and INSEAD.
