Secure and Reliable Utilities: Simplify Security in an Era of Increased Threats
Digital acceleration is driving connectivity across the entire power and utilities (P&U) sector. The number and type of devices connecting to the industrial network – smart sensors, valves, and gauges – expands the attack surface making industrial environments low-hanging fruit for an attack. As P&U organizations transform, digital security is necessary to protect the mix of legacy and modern equipment used. It also makes these industrial environments difficult to defend from cyberattack given the fragility of systems in place, and the common use of implicit trust models. Protecting these complex environments requires security practices and capabilities that span both legacy and modern equipment. P&U organizations need to leverage the power of network segmentation and access controls provided through a cybersecurity mesh architecture. During this session, power and utilities security veteran Chris Blauvelt will address the defense in depth strategy needed to support the cybersecurity requirements for the P&U industry leveraging the Fortinet Security Fabric.
