John serves as the field CISO for our customers who require technology to forge or lead their respective industry. Prior to this role, he built and led the team of Global Solution Architects with the goal of providing comprehensive security consulting services. He has also led Fortinet systems engineering (SE) teams with varied geography and industry exposure.

Prior to joining Fortinet in 2013, John held engineering, sales and leadership roles with some of the largest service providers and manufacturers. He began network computing with the introduction of Windows 3.1.1 in the mid-1990s and has never lost interest in the expanding field. His diverse roles offer him the ability to relate to multiple aspects of business challenges.

John is a self-published author from his early days at Juniper Networks and continues to be an avid consumer and participant in multiple technical blogs and podcasts as well as public speaking engagements. He recently completed his master’s degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance and also obtained the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification, believing that cybersecurity is the one practice/discipline central to all modern business endeavors that will continue to constantly evolve. John resides in Seattle, Washington with his wife and Boston Terrier, where he delights in the abundance of beauty and outdoor activity that nature has to offer.
