Digital and Security Trends in the Manufacturing Sector

Title: FIDO Device Onboard – a new industry standard that addresses the insecurity and cost of installing IOT devices.
Security of IOT devices inside a manufacturing facility is clearly critical. One area of vulnerability occurs during the installation phase of new devices, usually a manual process, with an installer configuring credentials. This approach is insecure, slow and expensive. Until now, there has been no broadly supported industry standard for automated secure device onboarding. Based on Intel’s SDO technology, FDO has been crafted for industrial and enterprise applications with the input of Intel, Arm, Microsoft, AWS, Google and others. FDO automated the onboarding process, increasing security while also reducing time and expense. This presentation shows the benefits of FDO, how it works and discusses the open software that supports it.
